I currently have two buckets seats in a 2004 Troopcarrier hdj78r and am looking to convert the passenger seat into a 3/4 bench seat.

I’m having trouble finding any information on what seats / rails from what models will fit?

I have seen second hand bench seats from troopcarrier hzj78, 79 series single cab and more for sale, some with and without rails.

How do you know what will fit between models?

Are all 78 series compatible?

Trying to get answers from experience or whether there is some knowledge source out there that I haven’t stumbled across yet!

Thanks in advance!

I will “second” that suggestion, you may also find someone has a set for sale on the LCOOL site.

You will get an accurate answer on the Troopcarriers of Australia Facebook Page.
I went the other way on a 2002 once and my recollection was that there were no extra bolt holes for the wider spaced rails on the 3/4 bench. In addition you will need new mounting points for the seat belts for the middle and passengers seats. I took mine to a seat belt shop to get the mods done.

I have owned a 78 series for 20 years, the 3/4 seat is most uncomfortable and is rally not able to carry a 3rd adult a toddler maybe and not for big distances. I got rid of my 3/4 years ago and installed XR6 Falcon seats via adaptor plates.

Yep, they are not comfortable, but bloody handy. We have taken 3 adults on extended trips before, Darwin to the Roper River on a fishing trip, Darwin to Gove on a camping trip. Several Darwin to Litchfield trips. Got a few complaints about a sore backside on the the Gove trip :-). Just made a few more stops than usual.
Point is, without that 3/4 bench none of it would have been possible. The cost of hiring a vehicle would of been thousands and these trips would never have taken place.
Just wished I'd ordered mine with the 3 seater across the back. That is even rarer as the front 3/4 bench on those swivels sideways, allowing you to climb in the back.

Good luck
