Does Jeep use the "Android Auto" system for connection to your phone. If so there are only a few select apps that will work on it!

Hmm,

You won't be able to do it I'd say. If it doesn't come up as an app when you have your phone plugged in to the system, then I'm pretty sure there is no way to over ride the system!

That is disappointing and when driving back roads one does not want to be squinting at the phone screen.
So probably won't re-subscribe to exploreoz.

Yes, I suppose it depends a bit on which back roads you want to drive on.

Tracks like Birdsville, Strezlecki, oodnadatta etc are well mapped by most GPS systems.

exploroz and hema and every other offroad map software will not work on android auto due to the backend code. Your choice to not renew your subscription to exploroz . I got over the fact my grand cherokee can't mirror exploroz and just run it on my 10.3lenovo M10 in a cradle. Much bigger screen anyway than the uconnect screen. Sounds like google maps offline is going to suit your needs. Sounds like you are really not going offroad anyway so google maps and waze should suit your needs

Google Maps is remarkably good for a lot of areas (not all, obviously). I was quite surprised when I was able to mirror my tracks around Innamincka to Cameron Corner. I looked at a number of options, including a couple of less used tracks, on the Explore app, and they were also on Google! Of course, the fact that Innamincka was incorrectly located didn't bode well! (It actually shows perfectly when zoomed in, but a wider view shows the "town" out towards Coongie lakes!)

Just ignore the travel times!??

Not sure if the Jeep has mirroring available (I doubt it), but, if so, you can use an Android phone to mirror onto the screen.

Cheers,
Mark

Most current jeeps have android auto and have done for years. Since the grand cherokee received an update in 18 it has had AA .

I am already mirroring Google Maps on AA but as some have mentioned it is not perfect off road and in some locations. Topo on Google also appears less accurate. My Suunto watch is more accurate and while that is mirrored on my phone that also does not broadcast on the AA.
I am still a fan of hard copy Topo maps but harder to get hold of these days.
Already have an additional screen for the Van rear vision and an extra monitor for the trailer tyre pressures. So not keen to add another screen.
At this stage Google will have to do when driving.

When you say "mirroring, do you mean using Google Maps via Android Auto? That is not mirroring. Can your system connect via wi-fi and the "Smart View" option on your Android phone? If so, you can mirror the screen of your phone, literally seeing anything on your phone screen on your larger dash screen. The better units also allow touch control of the phone screen from the dash screen.

Google maps would be a risky proposition in any backblocks area. Shows thousands of roads that don't exist, but is perfectly happy to plot your journey on them.
