Hi All,
After a few weeks Waeco uk have supplied me with a new lid which they assume is the Oz upgraded lid but the guy on the phone was not 100% certain what was different. As explained before it is vital this lid does not warp as it will be carrying medicine.
The original lid was ribbed and was stamped inside with PE, i was told this was the type of plastic. The new lid is not ribbed but is made of PC, look inside your lid and it will be stamped inside.
Can anyone with the new lid tell me what material is stamped on it and also tell me if it is ribbed? What material is the original lid made out off?
Even better can someone send me a photo of the new lid.
I notice on the Waeco Oz site both the ribbed and flat lids are both shown.
HELP i need to clear this up.
Thanks for any help

I'll try again ...
"Greater than" symbol PC "Less than" symbol with "Greater than" symbol PUR "Less than" symbol underneath.

PC = Polycarbonate
PUR= Polyurethane
What that would be indicating is the lid is made from PC (Polycarbonate) and the insulation inside the lid is made from PUR (polyurethane)
PUR (polyurethane) is a far better insulation than PS (polystyrene) so that's a plus
Interesting to see that they have changed the lid from PE (polyethylene) to PC (polycarbonate) because PC is afr more brittle (especially under cold conditions) than PE (polyethylene)

Thanks for all the help, its clear now that the old lid is made of PE and the new lid is PC. As KiwiAngler pointed out the PC lid does feel more bittle than the old lid. It looks like Waeco are still producing the old lid for the European market which i think is a mistake as we have access to a vast array of temps in europe. For such a cheap item i think Waeco should supply the new lid to all markets, how can it be taken as a serious expedition fridge if the standard lid warps?
Again thanks for all your help.

I would imagine that even though it is more brittle, because of this it would be less likely to warp.
However I have the perfect solution for you.
Chuck the Waeco and buy an Engel.
No more problems.

Forgot to mention for all the people from the UK, Waeco customer
services were excellent. Once i got through to the right person he could not do enough to solve my problem.
I would not hesitate to buy another waeco fridge.

I have had 4 lids on my CFC 50 in the last 2 years. The original 3 were a kind of rough
grey material with 4 drink holders on top. The latest newer lid is a darker colour, has no drink holders and has a really shiny smooth finish. It is also quite a bit heavier than the other ones too. I do not know what the marking is as it is at
home in the garage. This one has not warped (yet).
