We spent a week there in 1995. It is a special place, but if and when it re-opens it will be a very different experience, now that the road is bitumen..
Glad we saw it when we did.
Cheers,
Peter

They have dropped the ball since we were there last .. service was very poor there :(( sealing of most of the road hasn't changed things that much , then again a lot of the Peninsula is closed to tourists.

.
We were were also there about '95 or soon after Peter. I'm glad it was then too.
Mind you, the road was pretty ordinary....... Glad to have been in a hire vehicle!
I have an increasing list of places that I do not intend to return to. Would rather remember them as they once were.
Cheers
Allan

My wife & I called in to Kooljaman in 2008. It was being run by a contracted out management company who seemed to us to have an ethos which placed the customer behind profit. We enquired politely if we might see the facilities & accommodation options before deciding to stay. When the answer was "Yes, but it'll cost you $10 (each IIRC) to do so" we declined & left. We have spent a fair bit of time on the peninsula, including a 7 month period living up there in 2018/19. It is my favourite part of Australia, & there are some wonderful spots up there which are far lesser known than Kooljaman, Mind you we haven't been back since the road was sealed, I expect we will someday, but fear that what we have loved will likely have been spoiled.

We were there about a week ago - staying in one of the beach shelters. They were busy sending out refunds for 2022. It is such a shame as it is one of our most favourite places in WA! In talking to people up there, no one seems to know what will happen to it. Hopefully some Reno’s and open again in 2023….
One thing for sure is that no $ have been seen to be spent on upkeep / maintenance of the camping facilities (as far as I could tell) since we were up there last in 2017!
After the 2020 / 2021 season, I would think there should be plenty of $ for maintenance!!
