Perhaps this is simple but I thought I would reach out to the brains trust. I have a 12v ARB air compressor and there are occasions when I want to use it in my garage to pump up various inflatables. My car does not fit anywhere near my garage so I am seeking to use the compressor with a 240v source. What product do I require please?

G'day Steve.
I leave my 12v compressor in the 4wd & like you have items (wheelbarrows, Garden trolleys, hand trolleys, ride on mower etc) to keep aired up around the garden.
I bought the larger Ryobi 18v compressor for all those things & as I have a Ryobi drill I just use that battery.
Even use it to top up the trailer tyres when its parked right up the back of the yard & it handles it no problem.
I am sure whatever brand battery
tools you use would have a similar battery compatible unit.
Means that I won't forget to put my 4wd compressor back in the truck when I am done or have to lug a battery around the yard to power it.
Cheers
Stu

I'm always being asked to pump up kid's bike tyres, basketballs, soccer balls etc -my own grandies and also the neighbourhood kids. Word got out somehow :-)
I've kept an old AGM crank battery for the purpose and keep it charged with a small Ctek.
If you can get hold of a battery I think that's the way to go. There are other ways like power supplies, but with a 40amp output they will be expensive.

A very cheap 12V power supply can be made using the computer PSU's. I have just finished making up a dual 12V to run 2 fridges in the back of the car when I have access to 240V. The PSU came out of an old PC that I was no longer using and has 2 x +12VDC supplies at 17A each, if these are connected in parallel you should get double the current.
Here is one on eBay that has 2 x +12V outputs at 34A each -
850W ATX Cooler EXTREME Power Supply Silent Fan PSU Desktop Computer PC Gaming and is only AU $76.50 each.
I agree with other that a cheap 240VAC compressor would be easier but the above is a reasonably cheap option.
