Hi all,

We are doing the West - East trip and have only one area that we are unsure to go and that is in the beginning. From Steep Point to Meekatharra -from Overlander Roadhouse recommendations please - should we do the Butcher's Track or the Byro-Woodleigh Road. We have a thought that there may be interesting ruins along the Byro-Woodleigh Road.

Would appreciate any advice thanks.

Regards

I travelled East from Steep Point and the Overlander Roadhouse on Butcher’s Track in 2014. This route leads to several interesting places.

Wooleen Station. This historic station offers tours, accommodation and camping.

Dalgaranga Meteorite Crater. The smallest meteorite crater in Australia, 21 metres diameter .

Walga Rock. A large granite monolith with Aboriginal rock art. Notable for the mysterious depiction of a sailing ship.

Cue. This old gold mining town has many historic buildings. The Masonic Lodge is claimed to be the biggest, freestanding, double story corrugated iron structure in the Southern Hemisphere.

Cheers, John
