I have the app on a Samsung Galaxy S7 tablet. I force quit the app and went to the Play Store and downloaded the update. 3.17MB. It then installed it but every time I try to use the app, it runs for around 10 seconds and disppears. Anyone having the same issue or have any ideas about what's happening?

Rusty Iron,

From your explaination the best course of action is to go into Android Settings - Apps - ExplorOz Traveller - Storage and clear the app data. This will remove everything and reset the app to initial settings. Failing this or if you need additional assistance please use the Help Desk (link at bottom of page).

Well, that was the nuclear option! Had to start from scratch and reload / re-download everything. But, it has worked. Thanks very much for the help. Cheers.

Not that exact problem, but I do have a few issues.
I have it on 3 different Android devices....Samsung S21, Samsung A7 tablet and a El cheapo telstra tablet.
Despite recently updating to the new version, I always get a message on start up that tells me there's a new version available.
I click "REMIND ME LATER " and it goes away.
On a separate note....my OCD is going off its nut whenever I am travelling due north.....
I have always believed there are 360° in a circle....yet the compass readout on the screen appears to indicate there's 361°, because it goes from 359, 360, 0, 1,2 etc.
The question arises, is true North 360° or 0°???
Roachie....Don't follow me....I'm lost!

G'day Roachie,

"Despite recently updating to the new version, I always get a message on start up that tells me there's a new version available.
I click "REMIND ME LATER " and it goes away."

"REMIND ME LATER " just postpones the update. The app knows if there is an update available, so if you keep "REMINDING ME LATER " instead of doing the update it will keep reminding you because that's what you asked it to do. If you do the update instead of postponing it the reminder about a new version will stop.

"I have always believed there are 360° in a circle....yet the compass readout on the screen appears to indicate there's 361°, because it goes from 359, 360, 0, 1,2 etc.

360 and 0 are coincident. turning clockwise, you go from 360 to 1, not 0. Conventionally, north is expressed as 360. For example, Air Traffic Control will tell a pilot to "turn right heading three six zero". They will not say "turn right heading zero zero zero."

Thanks Frank,
Like I tried to say... I HAVE downloaded and installed the latest version a few weeks ago.

As for the compass...it goes from 360° which I always believed was TRUE NORTH to 0°. I would have expected it to go from 360° to 1°.

There's a new one more recent than that! It is 7.1.0, released 14th April, 8 days ago.

We may need David to explain the compass issue. Perhaps if it is going anticlockwise towards north it will display 0 when it gets there, but if going clockwise towards north it displays 360. I think it's a display issue with the software having to decide whether to display 360 or 0. There's no extra degree!!

Whether its 360 or 0, it's still North because 360 and 000 are coincident.

Cheers

Guys,

Interesting, firstly Roachie (Hi) please check the app version via going into the LHS Menu and selecting Manuals & About, this will report the version number which today is 7.1.0 - next week it may get to 7.2.0. Things are happening and we are adding some requested features and functions, which creates a number of updates.

As for the GPS functions and I do not think this is specific to any app or device. I think this is a 360 mod 360 = 0 issue however I know that I am not injecting this function. However I often get 0's from the GPS drivers during initialisations and drop outs. I do also boot the app with heading set to 0 until I load the last position from the database and get a new position (or not if no gps/permissions etc - it will stay 0).
