Hello All, new to exploroz and first-time poster. Currently learning to use Exploroz and running on Windows desktop and Windows surface pro tablet/laptop as a portable means.

Having just received my 2022 Hilux, I am keen to get expoleoz working in my Hilux with its native head unit/screen. Is this possible and if so how?

I would like to do this as economically as possible.

Regards Phil

Hi Phil,

System Requirements

See the section on InDash Head Units.

When you buy Traveller you cannot swap your licence between platforms. This means that because you have bought the Windows version, you will have to pay again to buy the Android version to run on an Android head unit. You will have to replace the OEM head unit with an after-market one that runs Android natively and allows access to Google Playstore. However, your EOTopo 2021 maps ARE swappable between platforms.

It's not a cheap proposition, I'm afraid.

The Helpdesk can assist with all your issues, especially with advice on Android head units.

Cheers

Frank, just a silly question from a not tech savvy idiot. I use a laptop using windows, I thought that that would be an andriod, verses the apple Mac which is totally different.
Could please explain to me is my computer laptop an andriod or something different to andriod, as we had to use a different account to download the traveller on the Ipads. Thanks for your knowledge in advance.

The EO Traveller app is available on three platforms (operating systems) iOS (iPad and iPhone NOT the Apple PC iMac, Macbook etc.), Android (phone and Tablets) and Windows 10. There is now a web browser , so platform independent version available for EO members who have an EO Traveller licence, but this is for trip planning, track log and trek viewing only not tracking. I understand this is the only way to use EO Traveller on an Apple computer. You can of course use an emulator on a computer, I'm not a user of Apple products but I presume there an iOS emulator for Mac computers and there are Android emulators for Windows.

G'day Garry,

Windows is a stand-alone computer operating system, as is Android which runs most of the non-Apple small devices like phones and tablets, as is iOS which runs Apple's iPhones and pads and the Apple Mac is different again. Think of the operating system as the engine that powers your device. Sometimes these operating systems/engines are called platforms.

None of them are directly compatible so that when you buy an app like Traveller, you have to buy the version that suits your operating system (or platform).

So if your "laptop using windows" is running the Microsoft Windows operating system (platform) then it is not an Android device and obviously, neither is it an Apple device. That is why, if you wanted to run Traveller on an iPad, you had to buy the right version for your platform from Apple's AppStore.

Hope this helps.
