Multi Device Install

Hi All,
I've read the FAQs and the manual and everything I can find on the topic and still confused. I have the V8 maps etc on my work Samsung phone and mostly all ok. I wanted to install on a second, private Android phone and the links lead me back to the Google Play Store, where I have to pay again. The EXPLOROZ site states you only have to pay for a license once, so long as the same OS is used, but I'm now wondering is it only the maps that you pay once for and in fact you have to pay for the "Traveller App" multiple times? Anybody have a clear answer on this please. It would be rather disappointing to find that you in fact have to pay each time you install the "Traveller App" even though using the same platform. If that is the case, It's a bit misleading in the advertising. Hopefully not the case though, as we all want to support Australian Made and Owned. Maybe there needs to be a clear and concise sticky thread in the FAQ on this?

Thanks for your help. Cheers Rowan

This question is asked way too often, it is clear on the EO website -Traveller is available for use on the 3 major operating systems - iOS, Android and Windows 10/11. Purchase is platform specific so you need to buy and download the app for each platform via the app stores. Your purchase from an app store is a licence to download the app multiple times and to multiple devices supported by that store, however cross-platform licensing is not available.

So you have to log into Googleplay on the same account as your initial purchase to download on your multiple android devices

Hi Pedro1,

Thanks for your reply and yes the key to it all lies in the detail that you mentioned "So you have to log into Googleplay on the ***same account as your initial purchase***to download on your multiple android devices" My Apple Play store was different logins on the two phones, however I was assuming the ExplorOz account was where the connection was made for downloads, which it is and isn't at the same time.

I also had excellent help from Michelle that got me through it. see below for her comments about Apple and Android. Initially Michelle thought I was asking about Apple, since mention the OS (Operating System), but there is good advice here for users of either operating system. Hopefully others can read this and sort some of the issues. I have copied the dialogue below, so it may save someone else from asking yet again for what may be the same issue.

My mistake and thanks heaps to Michelle, for her comprehensive and prompt replies below.

Hi Rowan,

Just a quick response here as you’ll find the issue is that both iPads are not using the SAME Apple ID so you’ll either need to change the apple ID login on the 2nd device OR setup the 2nd apple id as an approved person in your Apple Family Sharing account so that that apple ID has free access to apps purchased by your main Apple ID.

Unfortunately, we don’t control the apple store and have no access to your Apple ID and account transactions etc but with this info you should be able to work something out.

We are here to help you with app support but for store issues you need to seek assistance directly from Apple support if the above is not sufficient for you.

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for getting back to me. I am using two Android operating system (OS) devices, not Apple.

I cannot download on my second phone without it asking me to pay again. Do I have to pay for the Traveller App twice? My understanding was that I only needed one license, so long as I stick to the same OS. Thanks.

Regards,

Rowan

Hi again, sorry I saw OS and my brain interpreted that as iOS ?? But the same issue applies here - your 2 devices appear to be logged into different Google accounts because yes otherwise the purchase would be automatically recognised. Google also offer a similar Family Sharing arrangement as do Apple.

The only other possibility if you are sure that you are using the same Google account login to the Playstore on both devices is that your Google Play services app has crashed. We’ve seen this before and have researched the fix as many people need to do this - we found the fix documented on Google Support webpages - they suggest to open your Settings app - Apps - Google PlayStore - Storage - Clear Data (this is an approximate step by step instruction to get to the Clear Data area and each device/OS changes slightly). This refreshes/resets your account and if that’s the issue, then you’re all sorted.

Please try both of these troubleshooting store access suggestions and if still no luck contact Google staff as we have no ability to help here. We do deal with a lot of people and are confident in this advice, however.

Honestly, I’d recommend just on the 2nd device - opening the Playstore and going into the account, and pressing Logoff. Then log in again.

Let me know how you go,

Regards Michelle
