Hi,
Have just done the Strzelecki track to Innamincka (too much bitumen) and would like to do the Old Strzelecki Track to Cameron Corner.
Has anyone done this track recently & can comment on the condition, particularly the southern section?
Transport is LC200 & AOR Quantum.
Thanks
Fabio

The bit in the NP is controlled by Parks and has just opened.
https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/know-before-you-go/desert-parks-bulletin
The bit between there and Merty Merty is "public".
South of Merty Merty is private property and closed to the public.
The public road from Merty Merty to Cameron Corner is "just another gravel road" and usually fine. It is a lovely drive.

When I have driven the northern sections several times in the past I have found it to be a much more pleasant drive than the main road. There can be some light sand which will be of no consequence.
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks Peter,
It's the section south of the NP to Merty Merty that the I have been advised may be overgrown for vans (2 of the group have off road vans).
Have you done this section recently?
Regards
Fabio

Maybe 5 years ago? My recollection is that it is 2 vehicles wide.
Cheers.

It is OK for off-road vans.

Did the whole lot a few years ago with a TVan behind a Rodeo. Northern bit was a bit rougher than the southern section but no worries at all. Some mining activity on that bit too.

Hi Fabio, its been many years since we did the old Strez, as suggested, there are many sites with equipment along it, so the access should be just fine. Add some water and it may be a whole new ball game though....
We camped on the western side of the track, on the side if the creek and found a lonely grave site with 4 graves in the middle of a paddock....so much to see, so little time to see it. The only other thing to mention is bollards lagoon road, key after access payment at corner store, maybe thesame deal is at Innamincka store....this is an alternative to the old Strez track.

Hey Dozer, are you saying that the Bore Track up through Bollards Lagoon Station and the NP is open again, albeit by key access? If so that is great news as it is a really good drive. Don't think that I would want to pull a caravan up it though. Some soft sand and a few sharp dunes.

EDIT: SA Nat. Park information still shows that the Bore Track South (Bollards Lagoon Station section) is still closed to the public. Nothing about key access.
Cheers
Allan

Gday Allan, no sorry, i was meaning back in 1990 it was key to the gate and $10 access to go the bore track from Camerons corner store, which could be an option from Innamincka end aswell, if Fabio wanted to ask, but it seems, as you have found out that its now closed.

Is that the track with the double decker bus? I last drove it in 2003 but I thought it had been closed for years.

The double decker bus is on the road from Merty Merty to Cameron Corner, the bus is no longer on this road.

Thanks all for your responses. Completed the Old Strez track from Innamincka to Merty Merty yesterday without issue, majority of the track is now down to one lane as it is slowly becoming overgrown. It is still easily done with an off rad van in tow, just slow down for the dumpy bits.

Thanks Flngo
I'm heading up from Broken Hill to Innamincka via Cameron Cnr in the next day or so.
Did you get out to Cordillo Downs at all and if so what are conditions like please?
