Can anyone tell me what year the Zeka Spur Track was established for vehicle access to the Wonnangatta Station .

Can't help with when it was established, but we did it in the late 90s.
Used to live down that way, great part of the world.

I still live down this way , I first did it back in the 70's . I have tried searching the net but can't find anything

There was a similar question here or on another
forum a few months ago.
There are maps in the SLV from the 40's that don't show it. I'd say it was put in when the property was handed over to the Alpine national park. Whenever that was.
The track on the west side of the valley used to be what is now Dry River Creek.

The track on the West side , do you mean off the Howitt Rd .
I have always know that track to be the Zeka Spur the Zeka Creek Tk came off the Zeka Spur just after the last switch back , it was for logging if my memory is correct .
I did ride trail bikes and drive 4wds in the Zeka Creek Tk back in the 70's , it has been closed for years , there is no evidence of it now because of regrowth . I do remember cattle were still in the Wonnangatta back in the 70's . The Cain Government bought the Wonnangatta Station in 1988 the cattle were kicked out shortly after that ,

Licola map confirms what you say and has a comment that the Zeka Creek
track closed and that it's not even walkable now too.
Yes, I meant off the Howitt Hogh Plains Rd, The Dry
river track is now the Bicentennial trail .

Don't know the history of when, but the Zeka Spur track is hard to ride a large trail bike,600 Tenere, up it, with all my travel gear on it. Lots of deep wash aways/ruts, Been in there on bikes and 4wd similar to you, but later, in 90's. One of our group lost a RH rear wheel off a 60 series after crossing the river and it had to be repaired in the on the valley floor..

Yes the Zeka can be rugged at times , biggest bike I have ridden up the Zeka is a KTM 400exc didn't have any dramas even in the rain but wasn't carrying much gear .
I don't ride dirt bikes anymore but I would like a Tenere 700.
I ride a Yamaha FJR1300 now it wont be going anywhere near the Wonnangatta .
I can't find anything about when the Zeka was first established . I have even sent a email to the Friends of the Wonnangatta , no reply yet .
