2 facts,
I have seen 3 of these fail across our fleet in 9 months because of water ingression through the terminal seals when mounted flat on its back.
And,
There are three 30 amp fuses soldered direct to the cct board in series with the 30 amp fuses suggested in the fitting instructions, so incase of a fault its 50/50 chance of the line fuse blowing or causing irrepairable damage to the unit.

I have one of the older D250s units. Not sure how, but I managed to blow one of the fuses inside the unit, but they were 30A blade fuses - not soldered direct to board. I replaced the blown fuse and it works like new again. I was told by CTEK rep that opening unit voided warranty ... but it was out of warranty anyway. Not sure if they've changed with more recent models.

Yep they most certainly have, these are the duel input version.
A bit of handywork in there with a soldering iron would do it but that would be out of most people's capabilities but worth poping it apart and checking and taking it in for repair.
The corrosion caused by the poor terminal seals on the other hand is terminal.

They definitely do change things, especially in their 7 stage Battery chargers where fuses are soldered in and they also remove the numbering on the chips/IC's so you can't replace a chip if other components test ok. Some components come in handy sometimes though.

Same, I know exactly how some goose (me) managed to short the terminals on mine 12 odd years ago. No warranty so split it open and found the nice blown blade fuse that even I could fix. It is still kicking goals, it is up to its third car. I don't mount mine out in the weather though.

Water and electricity never go together, no matter what the manufacturer says.

Water and electricity go well together. Mal Talkbull and the Snowy 2 would say they do!
