Hi,
Looking at buying an Awning tent to attach to my caravans awning as my son has outgrown the bunk I made for him inside the caravan.
Supercheap has an XTM awning tent for $199 but it has some mixed reviews.
Does anyone have one of these and if so what is your opinion on it?
Or would I be better off with the Darche extender at twice the money?

Thanks,
Gordon

Hi
Gordon,
What is your budget? In my opinion, you cannot go past the OzTent range of free standing quick to put up and pack down “30 Second” tents. Their biggest drawback is that they are heavy, and not cheap. They are of high quality, and their after sales service is excellent.
Macca.

I did look at the Oztent’s, a bit more than I want to pay. It will only be used a couple times a year so can’t warrant paying that much for one.

Gordon
We have had an RV4 for nearly 20 years it is by far the best tent we have ever owned.
We have not used it in over 9 years since buying our Ultimate Camper, but would never ever get rid of it, just too good a tent.
Having said that, my son used it 3 years ago and just so
dam easy to use.

Gordon, the retail price of the two tents are around the same. The one you are calling half price is half the price whilst on 'special.' I would be grabbing it before its price doubles and goes back to RRP.

Just get a decent swag for him, around $400 for good quality, my cousin has the same for his 2 kids, they got a double swag for them. EDIT: after looking at those awning tents, yeah they would do, get the dearer one better quality

Yep, a swag gets my vote.
Your son will still be using it years ahead when he's off camping on his own and the tent is taking up space in the shed.
And recommend Darche. The only complaint I've ever heard about their products is the price. You get what you pay for.
Cheers

Richard, he did buy the dearer one. The RRP pf the XTM 2M Awning Hub s $50 more than the other one. He did a good deal on it, he paid half price for it ($200.)

Richard, his reply to me on Dec 05, 2023 at 16:37 seems to tell me he purchased the one I recommended - the dearer one that is currently selling at half price and not the Darche.
