Uneven tyre wear

Put a pair of K02s on the front of my hilux about 40k ago and run them mainly on road at 36 cold going to 40/41 hot.
Have noticed that on 1 tyre every second row of the tread pattern across the tyre is wearing more that the other with a bit of a sawtooth affect.
What causes this?
My way of thinking alignment would be more even around the tyre and uneven across it, leaving incorrect pressure, BUT is it too high or too low? And why is it only one tyre.
The rear tyres are wearing evenly with slightly less pressure as they carry less weight but being older I think they were the old American produced ones.
It had an alignment when they were fitted.

What is the shock absorber like on that corner? To me it is that or perhaps tread compound variations..ie sus tyre! Suspect shocker action takes it's toll on any tyre. Do you feel any slight flutter in body or steering when hitting bumps and the wheel flaps around a few times more than it should?
I know people get wheel alignments with new tyres, BUT if the old ones wore evenly NO ALIGNMENT is required, even if it is FREE with the tyre fitting. IF it isn't broke don't try and fix it!

Suspension feels pretty good, definatly dont feel any wheel movement, however the struts are original 320k old. Might give them a test whenI get in.
The alignment definatly wasnt free, 2 tyres balance and alignment touch over 900 bucks.
Have a feeling this be my last set of K02s.
Forgot to mention they are std size 265 65 17.

Just because you can't feel anything doesn't mean it isn't happening! At 320k the struts would be cactus in fine control of the wheel and suspension. May do something with big bumps perhaps.

When I get tyres I won't let them touch the alignment, ever. All they do is mess up the position it is ok in.

PS, What is the wheel bearing like on that wheel? If OE then the bearing might be a little tired.

I had this once on the OKA. Consulted my wheel alignment specialist and he looked at them and declared "Not the wheel alignment!....This is a tyre problem."
I swapped that pair to the rear and replaced them with the 2 spares.
No problem.

Is the wear from front to back tapering or side to side? Som tyres with square ON thread block catch more than angled blocks of tread and so are subject to higher abrasion as the tread is instantly squirmed as it goes under and is pulled backwards leaving the leading edge to be removed more than the remainder of the block.. IS it the square ON blocks which are worn like that? Highly likely the tread bands alternate their aspect to the road.

You do not say what front suspension type you have.

This type of wear is quite common on Toyota's fitted with solid (beam) axle front suspension, be it a Hilux or Landcruiser. It is also quite common with American sourced or designed tyres, and is always on the left tyre first/worst.

It can also be caused by poor damper (shock absorber) action, and ANY looseness in the front suspension and steering, including the steering box internals and steering knuckles (king pins) and shackle bushes.

Thanks for the input fellas.
To answer a couple of the latter questions it is the LHF tyre and IFS.
The wear is most apparent on the outer edge of the tyre and on the bit that is more symmetrical seems to be even while the other chunk seems to be more worn lower at the front.
Showed a tyre guy and he says most likley under inflation which could be right so now they are 41 hot, see how it goes for 1000k till i got it in the air at its next service, then on the back they go.
Strange the RHF isnt doing it when it's been running the same pressure, had it weighed a while back, I'll dig out the paperwork and see what weight each front wheel is carrying.

Front left is carrying about 70 kg more.
