Hi brains trust…so I downloaded the ExplorOz on my phone to first
check it out but our vehicles head unit is android and therefore needs to be downloaded in the Google play app but wants me to repurchase. Is there a way to download the app to in the Google play of the car and sign in with account and not repurchase. Many thanks Sian

What OS is your phone, if it is Apple then yes you have to repurchase. Each OS store Apple, Android & Windows charge separately for their devices.

You have to be logged in to the Google Play store using the same account as the one used to purchase the app. Same as every other app that you have. The head unit is Android not Android Auto?
Check out the FAQs for the app if it's Android Auto as you will need to use a workaround.
