Couple of years ago. Real easy drive with only one tight creek crossing.

Ta.
Looks like it carefully avoids all the dunes and could have been made with 2WDs?

90% of the dunes are at the south end south of Lake Mackay and all had solid roads put over them by a mining company. The gully/stream I mention would be the only place a 2wd would have an issue. Very pretty drive. Be aware the southern edge of the lake is a campsite for a lot of grey nomads in winter and they dont like strangers

Peter_n_Margaret.

Couple of years ago went N to S on this road, good drive very interesting. Met one local who drives there and back once a week in 2wd, Few slow bits but basically a great drive. If I did it again I would go S to N then from Balgo take the road to Lake Gregory (near N end of the airstrip) looks real interesting. Pity it is so far from home - love that country!

I'd strongly suggest to visit Wilson Glen, on the eastern side of the Stansmore Range. Hardly anyone knows its there. Pools of water etc...

You will need permission.

There's no formal track in, no.
There a shotline (south side) that will take you east a fair way then you will be on your own. I haven't been for a while however if there was one or two groups in per year there may be a good enough line to follow in.

Alan, do you have a GPS track that you would be prepared to share?
