Ray,
You could try E-Bay and Sold.com for second hand CB's. Be very careful to read the descriptions and any fine print. (ie which channels they transmit on). In my experience, it would also pay to ask if the unit has been repaired or modified from standard as sometimes modifications can make a disappointing buy.

thanks Mal58, I'd probably take the one I've got along just to see if the two were compatable. Cheers Ray.

I've only ever seen two type of 27MHz CB in a handheld.

One was the Mundara SY-201 which is available from bleep Smith stores and details are at
http://www.alphalink.com.au/~gfs/products/sy-201.htm

The other was the Dragon SS-201 that I last saw advertised at Harris Communications http://www.harrisguns-n-radios.com/

Hi Ray!

I've got a Uniden Pro340 xl handheld 40chnl am radio which is new ... a gift from a mate that I don't have a need for. It is in perfect working condition as I've taken it out to give it a go.

In all frankness, its in perfect condition with absolutely no blemishes, packaging and all, and it comes with a DC power cord to the ciggie lighter in the vehicle.

Do email me at darryltan@email.com if you are ( or anyone else) interested to find out more or buy it off me for $70.

Cheers, Darryl (Perth, WA)

have a look at the tiny UHF handhelds. A pair of new 40ch Unidens with about 1-3Km range will cost about $150 and are so small you can clip them to the strap of a backpack or daypack. I use them on bicycles and think they are great. Alkaline batteries (3AAA) last about a week while cycle touring - probably about 6 hours/day receive with talking a bit.
