In an aquatic case of the irresistible force meeting the immovable object the massive Cooper flood of 2025 is soaking into the dry desert sands. The flood front is finally at Pilachilpna
Waterhole as plotted on the map below. This was a 30 day journey in 2010 but took 42 days this year. At this rate it will be lucky to reach- and cut - the BirdsvilleTrack by mid July and enter Lake Eyre by the end of August. By which time the Lake will have swallowed and spread the
Warburton's waters across the vast salt flats and evaporation will be increasing. As to what input the Cooper will eventually have on lake levels , time will tell.
And the ferry? Still time to get one organised and set up to go into operation.
