78 series stabiliser rear bushes

Hi All
Is it possible to change these without suspending the rear of the vehicle by the chassis, thereby removing the sprung weight from the ground?
Reason for question is that it is VERY difficult to suspend the rear by the chassis without VERY large jacks or a lot of timber etc. The accessible rails are too far forward for me to use (to much weigh to rear of
suspension points).

You are fine as on flat ground there should be no weight on them. I did fronts on a 79 not long ago.

Lyndon: Is it possible to do it on the ground or just raising the back slightly enough to get under the vehicle .
This link is to a 100 series Landcruiser but it's basically the same principal .

As long as the wheels/axle are level there is no weight on the sway bar.
You can't jack up one side!
Do it on the ground, jack up and put on stands, or hoist. All being
well it a simple job.

If you need a bit more clearance simply
park the rears on a couple of thicker blocks and get under and change them. They are only bolted saddles and easily removed, peel off old, fit new, Rebolt the saddles. ALL DONE. hardest part will be getting it raised up enough!

Lyndon on keeping the underbody of your Troopy so clean after 20 years, since it was birthed from Mr Toyota! That amount of underbody surface rust is normal for any vehicle that lives in the Tropics.
It's always best to put a sprinkler under the vehicle for a few hours if you're driven through any salt
water and move it around a bit every 10 minutes with your vehicle parked on the lawn...
Your Troopy also has the best engine, the 6 cylinder turbo diesel that has 4 valves per cylinder. Better than the V8 that was under powered... The latest 2.8 hilux/prado/fortuna/ hiace/ 70 series engine is apparently better?
Do you want a new Troopy with the newer engine and all the upgrades for about $85,000?
