Google AdSense is an automated advertising platform, so the ads you see on our site are not chosen by us.

What we do is insert Google’s AdSense code into certain pages, which simply provides the space (slots) where ads are allowed to appear. Once those slots exist, Google’s systems decide what ad is shown in each slot, in real time.

Ad selection is based on a combination of factors, including:
• The content of the page being viewed (keywords, topics, structure)
• The visitor’s general interests and browsing behaviour (where consent has been given, via cookies)
• Location, device type and language
• Advertiser bids and relevance (higher relevance and bid value generally win)

This means two people can view the same page at the same time and see completely different ads.

We don’t see, approve or control individual advertisers, creatives, or messaging. Our control is limited to defining broad categories we allow or block (for example, excluding sensitive or inappropriate ad categories).
