The attached video by Will Prowse has just come to my notice. It shows a serious fault in these premium priced batteries. If you have one and draw high currents (+80A) from it then you have concern. If you are only drawing lower currents then you may be OK for some time. But I consider the fault to be a ticking bomb. Watch the video and I am prepared to answer any questions you may have.
The video is
here.

Hi Allan,
I watched Will's episode on this battery and was utterly shocked with the reply by the manufacturer.
I can only hope that the issue will be addressed correctly by Battle Born and the statement issued was by some spin doctor with no real knowledge or understanding of the potential dangers.
Getting sued will change their attitude.
William.

Yes William, I find it hard to believe that the response offered by BB of the arrangement being some sort of safety circuit breaker was sincere. Surely no-one with any reasonable electrical knowledge would concoct such an insane arrangement. I am more inclined to think that they panicked and perceived a way to justify the construction even though it was without credibility. I guess that anyone stupid enough to contrive such excuse is also stupid enough to expect it to be believed.
Will Prowse is highly respected and has an extensive audience. I have no doubt that his revelation will have a significant effect on BB's reputation. Their only defence can be that there have been no reported fires of these batteries. But that does not mean that they will not occur. The fact that it is a product with a crucial fault cannot be truthfully denied.
I have no motivation to harm the Battle Born company, they seem quite capable of doing that themselves, but I do have concern for users of their products.

Hi Guys,
Does anybody know if these batteries are available in Australia? I have never heard of Battle Born Batteries.

Yes Macca, there are several retailers offering Battle Born batteries in Australia as
well as Amazon.au.
Just Google "Australia Battle Born batteries" and scroll down.
I have never directly encountered them but have seen references and promotions. Somehow I had dubious feelings about their sales expressions even though they were not cheap. This disclosure by Will Prowse does not surprise me.

Allan, I googled as you suggested. A handful of sellers, purportedly Australian, showed up, but looking deeper they are either American prepared to sell to Australia, or have no stock. The only mention actually on an Australian site I could find was Outbax.com.au. But in their listed batteries there were no Battle Born, only their self branded items. Amazon Au don't have any either.

Well they were, but with Australia's consumer protection laws and retailer wisdom, perhaps the are not any more.

Allan, I think you will find that that company (www.melaviamart.com) are not based in Australia. In fact there is nothing on their web site to say where they are based & further searches warn of a probability that this is a scam web site.
