G'day everyone,
My family loves getting off the
grid, but keeping the
young ones safely entertained around the
campsite or on rough bush
trails can sometimes be a challenge. Traditional 50cc petrol dirt bikes are just too noisy and often frowned upon in many quiet
camping spots.
Do you think completely silent electric balance bikes (with proper
suspension) are the ultimate compromise for kids at
camping grounds? How do you guys manage kids' bikes when heading out bush?
Cheers,
Guy

Children’s brains are not fully developed. They have little sense when riding properly at speed in and out of other camps. Other campers will not hear them coming. Children panic, disaster happens. Keep them away. A big NO from me.

We took our kids
camping from a very early age.
They were entertained by themselves or interacted with us by observing and listening to nature and if we went anywhere, we used the good old "shanks pony" in other words we walked.
We also took card and board games etc, eye spy when driving.
When a little older they used good old-fashioned bikes that needed to be peddled and effort, good exercise, healthy too!
Now our kids take their kids, same philosophy. And with the advent of electronic games and videos available...our grandkids do was our kids did, look out the window, observe, ask questions or read a book

Hi Guy,
I am not a fan of kids on EBikes or EScooters. Children do not have the same common sense that adults have. Some adults do not seem to follow “
camp etiquette” when it comes to riding/walking through other peoples
camp sites, let alone kids on near silent EBikes. At least on a push bike kids are getting exercise, not only in their legs, but also cardiovascular exercise as
well. So it is a no from me.

Guy.
You should be educating your children to APPRECIATE NATURE, SO much to learn for the Powered Bike riding morons from the city. Why take something which is the same as is already stuffing them up? Show and TEACH them something other than what they see in EVERYDAY LIFE AT HOME, if you can. If not learn something about the bush and show your children. It will enrichen their lives where a POWERED ANYTHING WILL NOT!
I thought the whole idea of
camping was to discover something different, something which is educational and character developing!
Learn about eco systems, SYMBIOTIC systems and animals, birds, spiders. There is LOTS out there. You don't learn much at 50kmh.

This bloke posted recently.
I think he is trying to gauge interest for a business idea he has.
A previous post was deleted due to self promotion/advertising rule breech.
Apologies if I'm incorrect.

Re (Do you think completely silent electric balance bikes (with proper

No, I think they are dangerous, to themselves and others in
camp grounds, Children do not appreciate the braking/speed and the how quiet they are, especially for older people.
Re (How do you guys manage kids' bikes when heading out bush?)
When our children were
young, ditto mate 55 years ago, each family had a 80cc and 50cc bikes,
camping adjacent to bush land. A track was worked out and all went around the track in the same direction with no cross country.

I consider that silent electric bikes have no place in
camping grounds nor anywhere else that pedestrians use. Without defined walking lanes, pedestrians by right and by nature saunter and should not need to walk around looking over their shoulder all the time. There have already been pedestrian deaths caused by e-bikes and sooner or later some aggrieved family will sue the pants off an e-bike rider and the parents for $millions which then may be reason to be thoughtful.
We never had trouble keeping our
young ones safely entertained,
campsite or anywhere else without being a risk or annoyance to others. It is not a "challenge". It is a responsibility.

Hi Guy
Is this a scamp post?
First of all, you are very wrong on a couple of issues regarding the petrol powers motor bikes.
Firstly, they are very quiet like the Pewee 50 etc.
Secondly and more importantly, the only way you can use a petrol powered motor cycle is on private property, where there will be no one else around you and as for your comments “just too noisy and often frowned upon in many quiet
camping spots”……if this is the case, the parents want a kick up the a….., as it would be non private land and the bike must be registered and the rider holding a motorcycle licence……
