There was another map
shop in Unley Road. We were good friends with the owners. That shut a couple of years ago.
The one in the city was/is an exceptional
shop, as was the one in Unley Road..
One of our main expenses in preparation for a remote trip in the 60s and 70s was buying the 1:250,000 survey maps for the area we were going to visit. I still have most of them.
I really like a good paper map.
Cheers,
Peter

I met member Phil B in the Map
Shop in
Perth before it closed. A magnet for explorer types.

That Phil B bloke gets around. We also first met him randomly - not a map
shop but at a fuel stop in the
Perth Hills. About 25 years ago!!

Hello
Under the assumption you are talking about the
Perth Map Centre in
Hay Street - slight change of location and management etc , but still exists
Perth Map Centre/Map World .... and they still sell some of my scanned/georeferenced maps :) (very occasionally)
Cheers

Greg - yes
Hay st.
I spent many a lunchtime there. Good to hear they are still around, even if they're not the originals

Gidday, One of the original owners (AFAIK) still running the show so as original, for comparison, as current AC/DC or Queen, I suppose :)
Cheers Greg

The
shop is still very viable, he just needs someone with the appropriate background to run it .
So please everyone put out the word to all your fellow map lovers that a new owner is needed.

I know it’s a real pity, but there is still a great place in
Melbourne to get good quality maps from Meridian maps, that have a great variety of books as
well, and they purchased Westprint Maps.
Here is their site

Have been using Meridian for years. Great
shop , and some excellent maps , especially for Victoria.
Cheers
