Hi all, am hoping to run through from Silverton, via the corner store and through to the Strezlecki track via Merty Merty. Spoke to the corner store and they couldn't help me much regarding off road travel. Can anyone help me with current road conditions along this route as I can't trust the road conditions maps. In particular getting through from the store to Merty Merty. Can't beat local knowledge!

When?
There are a lot of roads out there still closed from flooding. When they say "closed", it means they are CLOSED.
There is only one road from Cameron Corner to Merty Merty, and it is CLOSED, which means you can not drive on it.
What do you mean when you say "off road travel"?
Outback NSW roads
Outback SA roads

The NSW site has links that would get you to the local authorities responsible for each road. You could call them and see if they can give an estimate as to when they might open, but often they can't.
In my experience the SA site is typically accurate and is updated almost daily when appropriate.

Hi Peter A34,

I have travelled the road between Silverton and Cameron Corner in the past. For the most part it is a well formed gravel road, but as the majority of it traverses through stations, it is not always well maintained, particularly the norther end, and some of the gates may actually be locked. It also passes through a couple of clay pans and swampy areas. Given the amount of rain and floodwaters that have gone through this area, and as the maps that Pete and Margaret have provided indicate, the road is closed. These maps are on each State Road Website, free of charge to access, and are updated on a regular basis. If it is closed, it is unlikely that you would get through. Severe penalties apply if you are caught driving on a closed road.

The road between Tibooburra and Cameron Corner is currently shown as open for 4WD vehicles.

thanks Macca, looks like we might be going in via Tibooburra and not the off road option via stations. Still yet to determine how to get through to the Strezlecki track. Cheers.

I have driven via Omicron and Epsilon from Cameron Corner to Innamincka (in company with a 23ft caravan) when the Strzelecki was closed, but I don't like your chances.
All closed according the Queensland authorities.
Queensland road conditions.
