When selecting low range 4wd in my 89 Nissan Terrano 2.7TD auto, I have allways had to stop the engine, otherwise it crunches. Is there a Knack to get it into gear, is something worn, or is it normal to stop the engine ?

I have found this forum very helpful in rectifying an annoying problem that I have put up with for the last 18 months; ie an audible warning that came on at 105 kph. After reading the advice that this was easily fixed (about 30 mins work) I had no worries in finally getting rid of the one thing I disliked about this car.

Johnsy, You bloody beauty. I went straight outside and tried it and it selects so easily. All this time, I must have been putting it in neutral !! I feel like a bloody Dill.
