Increase wheel size

I thinking (what a noise) about increasing my wheel size from 15x6.5 to 16x7 rims
to match the size on my campertrailer My vechile is 1991 Toyota Hilux Surf(imported) Auto 2.4l turbo desiel was wondering if there would be enough power to drive the extra size of wheel will be fitted with BFG 694 tyres. Any info would be appreciated Regards John M (WA)

If you keep the tyre diameter the same, it won't make a difference... If you are going to 31x10.5's, you may have issues with legallity/roadworthyness/insurance.

G'day John,
Bearing in mind that similar overall-sized tyres (say 31" diameter) to suit 15" rims are quite a bit cheaper than the equivalent 16" rim sized tyre.
If I was in your shoes, I'd be more inclined to change the rim size on the camper trailer down to 15" to match the vehicle....also it would mean having to only buy 2 or 3 wheels & tyres instead of 5.

Hi Roachie,
After reading your reply, I did not think of your suggestion (probally due to the noise of thinking) but I would still like to go to a 7" wide rim on the vehicle which I can pick-up for about $40 - $50 ea, I have done some calculations and your suggestion plus 7" rims all round works quite a bit cheaper than and I even get an allowance for the other rims and tyres.Thanks for the suggestion will keep you informed how it works out.
