HI all,
I really need some advice as I have just put a deposit down on a 1990 SR5 Dual Cab 2.8L Diesel Hilux. It has 292000KM. It was a commercial vehicle, and appears to be in excellent condition compared to many others viewed. I am concerned that 292000KM is too high and may present some mechanical problems. Should I be worried about the KMS and if so, what specifically should I be worried about? Apart from the KMS it is a real gem.
Cheers,
Chris

Factor in the probability that stuff is worn and will go wrong. The motor should have up to 200,000 left in it. I reckon around $10,000 to $12,000 should be the right price. Is that about what you're paying? Cheers Royce

It's through a dealer so naturally it is higher- $16500. I reckon its too high, but I'm buggered if I can find a dealer in Syd with anything cheaper atm

Bugger... just sold my wife's identical vehicle [1991] for $11,500 and had everything done on it!! It better have a good Hayman Reece towpac, new shockers, bullbar and working aircon! It better be very neat inside and out. But..... well, through a dealer, they do cost more. Enjoy.... they're good chunky cars. We went for a Surf..... hmmmmm not sure about this. It's a 2.4 auto. Turbo, makes it a little better in performance, but I don't really like sludgematics! I drive a couple of 75 series cruisers. Hope it all works out. Cheers Royce

Hi Chris, I owed a Hilux for a few years, tough vehicles, but like everything else they need to be maintained. I had close to 300 000 kms on mine and it was going great when I sold it. My friend had a 84 model with just over 400 000 kms it was still going good motor wise, but he was starting to spend money else were on the vehicle.

CHeers Daniel. I bought it home the other day and am very happy with it. Needs a bit of work but it can wait so its not a big deal. Overall I'm pretty happy with it.
