To all of you Victorian Melbournites,
I'm heading down to Melbourne this Friday night and I was wondering about the City Link and Ring roads. Whats the deal with these roads? and how do you go about paying to travel on them or should I just keep clear of them.
I'm running Destinator3 on my Ipaq, so I'll have no trouble getting around, but it doesn't identify the toll roads.
Any opinions, thanks in advance.

Thanks 120prado120,

How do you pay? Do you buy a pass or just pull over and pay before you get on them. It's just that I have heard some horror stories of people getting fined for not paying.

Chaz, City Link can be contacted on the folloing number, you can pay by credit card. They have a weekend pass, which is much cheaper than a day pass.

Hope this helps you out?

Chaz, When you are on a freeway and approach the toll roads you will see the coloured signs (blue and yellow I think, but someone will correct me if I am wrong) and can always turn off before they start. Unless you a peak hour commuter from certain areas and/or cross town frequntly it is no great hassle to avoid them altogether.

Thanks Darren,
Origionally, I was planning to avoid them, but for $9.95 for the weekend, I thought why not, I'll give them a go. Less time on the road, means more time shopping!
