Does anyone know of a good camping spot on the banks of the Murray within say 50ks of
Echuca for a group of say 8-10 vehicles/tents? We are planning a trip for the March long weekend.
Of course we could all
rock up on the Murray Sunset Trip *grin* - Which is a possibility but might cut some out who don't want to travel.

There are some really nice spots near Torumbarry , to the west of
Echuca. There is a state reserve on the Banks with a huge area for camping (very popular for the Southern 80 Ski boat race) 100's of spots. No facilities though

Barmah State Park nth of Strathmerton has large camping spots that would suit, but I reckon you would have to set up now to claim it.
All along the river upstream from
Echuca has good camping.
Around Tocumwal is another area worth trying. As
well as Barooga across the river from Cobram.

Gary, when your in
Echuca look up Peter Garfield & Clair Jackson... you will find them on a Paddle steamer (THEY BOTH WORK ON THE STEAMERS) or around the Port area... Tell them that "the father of steam navigation (ACT) " sent you and they will show you the ropes... the inside story of the padlle steamers....may even score a ride.....give Clair a hug for me too but don't hug Peter just a hand shake will do....Oh and tell them my steam launch goes on Ebay early April....

Hi Gaz
Just come bavk for
Echuca, we stayed at Christies beach 5 klms east of
Echuca at the end of Simmies Road, very clean drop
toilets and quiet. Quite a number of camping areas to fit 10 vehicles in, plenty of shade.
