Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help me with this problem,we are running the lap top in the car with the Ozi Explorer software but it keeps playing up. When you load Ozi Explorer that works fine but when you turn the GPS on the cursor goes mental and flies around the screen and you get pop ups everywhere, the only way to stop it is to re-boot the lap top several times on some occasions and then it can happen again at any time. The other problem is every now and then when you click on start nmea it comes up with COM PORT ERROR and will not start the moving map. This is really starting to annoy us as for instance we had it working fine on Friday morning before leaving on our trip but by Saturday morning it was playing up again.
The GPS is connected through the USB port as i do not have a serial port on my computer to suit, the proper soft ware was loaded to make it work(supposedly).

I hope someone can help i do not mind paying someone to fix it i just want it fixed we are based in Perth if anybody can help.

Many thanks,

Martin and Samantha

Martin

I had the same prob lem and Brian ommerville from GPS OZ gave me advice,

I have to have the GPS connected but turned off when booting my computer. After the boot is completed, I then turn on theGPS and have had no poblems with this procedure.

Martin and Samantha, the guys above have it. Make sure you are a fair way through the boot process before you turn on the GPS. Mine wanted to load mouse software to cope with it until I worked it out. It won't detect the GPS while it is turned off, but as soon as it has it's power............

Another thing to make sure of is that you use the same USB port all the time. My laptop has 2 USB ports. If I plug into one I get COM3 and if I plug into the other, I get COM4.

Ozi Explorer is probably configured to communicate with one particular COM port.

Hi Martin. Found it, Go to www.oziexplorer.com website..support, trouble
shooting.then you will see, mouse curser jumps around screen when GPS
connected. click on trouble shooting and follow how to get it working.
Maybe solve the other problem at the same time.

Martin - 1. Always plug into the same USB port on the Laptop (as above).
2. Go into the control panel, System, Harware, Device Manager - and DISABLE the extra pointing device that WINDOWS loaded.
That fixed it for me.........
