Hi all,

Starting to put some dates together for the Queensland trip in July. We'll be at Birdsville for the national get-together in July and are going to Lawn Hill from there.

How long should it take to get to Lawn Hill? We're not interested in setting any records and would like to see the sights but don't want to take a week either. 2days? 3days?

Mike

Hi Penguin, Bdv to Mt Isa is 700 (can do in 7 hours if going shopping!!!! About 19 to Bedourie (80 of which is bitumen), Bed to Boulia is 200 (120 of which is bitumen) from Bouia to Mt Isa is 300-odd all bitumen. Think another day and you are at Lawn Hill - not sure, haven't been there yet! Looking forward to seeing you here in July.

Haven't been there yet??? You must lead a sheltered life lol

Two days from Bdv to Lawn Hill at a steady pace. Plenty of corrugations after one leaves the Barkley Hwy for LH.

No, haven't been to WA and only bits of NT (bits north of French Line) or Gulf Country - I'm doing this job so I can go and finish travelling around Oz, with all my friends I've met!!!

According to Travelmate

Mt Isa to Lawn Hill is 345 Km and 5 hours.

That doesn't seem too bad to me. Travelmate is usually pretty accurate at least in western NSW.

Hmmm; now that has got me thinking about July myself.

Hello Baz

The White Lightning bottle is almost empty and won't survive the trip but I will see what I can dig up around the Margaret River area in WA :o) Looking forward to lots of fun and frivolity at Birdsville(that is if the Lady in Red with the whip lets us...hahahaha)

Take 2 stops. We stopped first night on Wirrulyerna station which is out of Boulia heading to Alice. You can camp on the river which runs through the cattle station. Then camped after Mt Isa on the road and then at Gregory River but I think that is no lobger possible. You'll enjoy Lawn Hill. IMHO stay at Adels and then try out Kingfisher - great spot
