How good is the Redarc 100 amp 12VDC SB112 Solenoid/isolator.

I want to use a solenoid under the bonnet in a 2001 Prado and run 6ml B&S cabel to a battery box in the rear. I will be running a 6oltr Engle combo fridge/freezer.

Can anyone suggest a better solenoid or is the Redarc smart solenoid the way to go.

I did contact ARB in Brisbane however their smart solenoid was about $240 dollars compared to the Redarc for $179 as advertised on E-BAY.

Yes, the Redarc is a good bit of kit - it is widely used and does the job well. I use one to charge an AGM in the rear cargo area - you can also wire it up to parallel the batteries if needed for starting. I would recommend the Redarc - they are bulletproof.

One thing though, $179 seems a bit steep. You should be able to pick them up between $120 and $150 (at the most)

Yeah,

What Moggs said.

They work extremely well, but the price you are talikng is well over the odds.

Cheers,

Jim.

Got Redarc installed last week. I was told that it is better than ARB 1314 model
one asit is fully automatic... You should be able to get redarc for around $140

Hi Kelpie,

Redarc is "all good mate" - just like the beer ad.

As mentioned, you should be able to get much cheaper than you've been quoted. I paid $100 (trade price) about 12 months ago.

Kelpie,
I asked the same question of redark direct, and recieved an email from them stating that their system did work better with two "identical" batteries than it did with two different batteries, so if you have two identical batteries it will be perfect for you.

The price is way over the top as you can get a brand new Rotronics isolator for about that price and they are guaranteed to work with two different types of batteries.

There are many posts on the forum both for and also against solenoids v electronic isolators. Over the years I have had both in my vehicle, obviously I changed for a reason, ask him why he is selling his ?
