Sorry David, just tried Boulia Police but they wouldn't talk to me. Tried all my other Boulia contacts to no avail - even the Shell at Boulia just had a fax machine.
Obviously you tried RACQ site (always a worry that!). You aren't leaving this weekend, are you?

I find it strange that the police at Boulia wouldn't talk to you. After all you could be saving them a lot of the hassles of stranded (or worse) tourists. I've always found the local boys in blue to be most helpful....even in Birdsville :))

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for trying. I managed to get a NT telephone number that provided info that is it open with care at creek crossings.

I am leaving Monday morning at 5pm and should make Boulia Monday night.

PS If Sully is still around, tell him I just became the oldest person to get recommended to Flight Training for the Australian Defence Force. I got through the Flight Screening Process (FSP) and Officer Selection Board (OSB) and was recommended on Thursday night.

Cheers
David

Hello Robbie! Got a bit worried when heard the reports of the shocking and sad crash in NQ - specially when I read about the Cairns tour operator on board with almost the same name.

Hi Ruth, Thanks for the concern, Rob Brady used to work For Billy Tea Bush Safaris, the people I contract for during the season. I trained a pilot today whos best mate was the pilot of the crashed plane. A sad time for all up here, we used that Metro to ferry our people to and from the Cape. I used to fly all over the Cape doing training and never did feel comfortable with it Light planes and small isolated airstips was no joy ride. These days I am more relaxed enjoying driving people all around OZ. Take care Ruth. Cheers Rob.

David, as I write this Sully of course is at the Pub - been there since about lunchtime. Been having a few campfires. We are so proud of you - Sully will be thrilled when I tell him tomorrow (he'll be legless tonight). Big cricket match on in town today - Diamantina Shire versus Barcoo Shire (Windorah mob) and it's going well up on the new green oval.
Hey Footloose, Boulia Police wouldn't talk to me because it was 4;45 p.m. and they'd probably knocked off to patrol around the Pub, Golf Club and other know places of inbibing alcoholic drinks - same as all Police are doing in all small towns all over Queensland at the moment!!
David, have a good trip.

David - Sully found the note (printed your forum out) this morning after smoko - he's very chuffed that you made it, especially as you are sooo old! He said - well done, from one old bloke to another (he's 83).
