Hi all
Back again for more info
Which is the quickest way from
broken Hill to
Flinders ranges N.P. Don't really want to go down the highway to petersbourgh and then up to
hawker. Can we safely cut across somwhere between Olary and
Yunta?

Kate,
You can go from
Yunta, but you did not say where you want to go to/come out at in the flinders.
I know the area like the back of my hand. Give me a mobile no and i will send you a LL # you can ring me on if you wish.

We did this trip, coming out just north of Willow Springs over the Anzac weekend. Was a good trip, road wasn't too bad.
You can follow this road from
Yunta and either come out near
Rawnsley Park or as we did just north of Willow Springs, which is 17 km north of
Wilpena Pound.

Russ

The road up from
Yunta provides good access to all of the northern and central(???) Flinders. There is, however, limited access to the west. The road is
well maintained and quite a pleasant trip. It is roughly 300km from
Yunta to Arkaroola and the trip can be comfortably completed in a day.
Broken Hill to Arkaroola that is, with plenty of time to make
camp. It is about 2 hours BH to
Yunta at the speed limit. I recommend you don't go any faster as the SA Police keep that bit of highwya pretty
well covered and they don't take kindly to people speeding in their fromt street.
This is the best access from BH to the Flinders and is much quicker than going via
Hawker. But if you intend going to
places further south than Wilpena you would be better off to follow the bitumen. Even Wilpena is borderline.
