I don't own a 4wd. I say that openly and unashamedly.

But I'm getting sick and tired of constantly reading these anti 4wd posts and seeing NO organized body to represent them.

I DONT want to represent 4wd owners either (because I'm not one of you guys, and I was not chosen).

BUT.

If we/YOU don't pull your heads out of your Hmm well whatever, you might just have to continue eating bleep forever.

So, I propose here to put together a PRO 4BY GROUP meeting.

To be held at a venue of convenience by the end of May 2005.

1. The agenda will to be to decide on whether the present attendees can establish an organized, responsible group to represent Four Wheel Drive owners.
2. Identify clear objectives of the group.
3. Identify and delegate tasks related to survival and effectiveness of group and
4. Set future date to meet if required.

WHO ELSE IS IN?

Isn't that what the vafwdc is for? (sure there are similar organisations in other states)

Well I just did a search on "VAFWDC" here (after your reply) and the only place that comes up is YOUR reply.

If there out there, WHY isn't someone here swinging their flag?
Why don't they make their presense felt. Heck they can have MY FREE banner ad or whatever I got when I became a member.

I'm simply Mystefied at the lack of replies of this post too.

Equal runner after an hourand fifteen minutes is the CDMA telephone question? and the free BBQ which I deliberatly placed today to get some visitors/activity on the forum.

Maybe all people really want to do is stand around the bbq scoffing their faces while whinging to their mates on the phone at the rough deal the Govt. gives them and their 4by.

Instead of realising it's their Country, and they can effect/influence and even dictate the rules. All they need to do is type here "Hey! ya know what, I'll go to a meeting".

I'll get involved.

"On Here" I would suggest is preaching to the converted.

Members of 4wd clubs know whats going on as we are updated constantly on the issues at hand and Vic 4wd is constantly engaged in dialog and other proactive measures with government to ensure access for all.

Although some on here are quick to criticize the association without lifting a finger to support.

We'll I've never heard about them until today when "I" started dialogue.

And the search I did revealed NO MATCHES found.

I won't enter a p!ssing match with you John because WE are on the same TEAM here.

Yes ... Yes. I know we could get into the 'Coaster thing' is not a true 4 wheel drive so of course I have not heard of them.

BUT why is it that UNTIL today? I have never heard of them here?

Or of their accomplishments.?

Why rant they regular sponsors or visitors or meeting dates posted.

I don't want to join 10 clubs to find out what's going on until it's too damn late. I can't afford it!

MRA. I mention the MRA (Motor Rider Association) and many people who've never owned a bike know who I'm talking about. I'm only talking GENERALLY here so I'll be wrong somewhere.

ONE man held that organization together for years and years.

AND Nearly EVERYBODY who's owned a bike from commuter to a street racer has heard of them.

Why isn’t the same happening with 4by's?

I just did a search on here on the topic 4wd Association. received 37 hits.

"AND Nearly EVERYBODY who's owned a bike from commuter to a street racer has heard of them.

Why isn’t the same happening with 4by's? "

I think that most active 4wheel drivers have some knowledge about their various state associations.
This is reflected by the follow up on this thread with links to their state bodies.

I also think that there are club pages in some of the monthly 4wd mags, (Not positive on this as I don't buy them) someone maybe able to confirm this.

Most of these bodies are run by volunteer's who do a brilliant job with the resources at had, I know that Vic 4wd is currently putting together its business plan to be able to afford a full time office staff to better represent our issues, but it takes time and money.

John.

The search I did was on "VAFWDC".

However I can see with hind sight that NO-ONE would have done that as they wouldnt have known about them.

"4wd assoc. seems a likely winner. I'm embarrased by my mistake.

---------------------------------------

Another point though is that you alongside others have said that "on here" (meaning this site EO) is preaching to the converted.

Well I'm not converted. I've never heard of these other clubs. Or joined them.

And if money is an issue as well as time, well I sit on my arse all day doing nothing and I still scraped together $50 to join here?

The EO site stats (as I type) are 29 Members, 33 Visitors and a whopping 548 Annonomous. It's these 548 that your missing if you dont advertise here and wave your flag here. Geez I sound like im selling EO. Im not. BUT maybe it's the lack of togetherness that could be the razors edge difference (turning point) for the 4wd issues?

I dunno. I'm just floating humbly (and passionatley) an Idea.

No, Im not as smart as you... Please tell me what year it is.

But why do you think the MRA has THE WORST name round all motorcycling groups? Oh thats right your smarter than the rest of us.. ROTFLMAO!

Jump on Aus.motorcycle and tell the crew how wonderful MRA is, you will be laughed out of existance... Also try anyone racing bikes in Vic, or NSW..

Well firstly Thankyou for the compliment. I never consider myself "smart" as YOU say, but I say thanks anyway.

Secondly. I am not a member of the MRAA and have never been. I did however tell Damian Codognotto once that I'd snot him if he ever ever poked his nose into my legal affairs again. Thats the closest I've been to becoming a member.

What I was saying (maybe you should read it again, because you seem a little slow) is that they are a "NAME" and everyone "HAS" heard of them. It don't mean they are effective, I was using them as an example. I could of picked any group. I could have used The Australian Netball Federation but you'd be the only person here familar with them.

BTW I've read some of your witty replies and posts and I believe WE are on the same side in regards to some of your views. I read between the lines here and elsewhere and I suspect that your son IS NUMBER ONE PRIORITY for you. I'd rather join forces to make it a better world for him rather than waste time slugging it out on a damn keyboard. What do you say?

by giving them a plug when they do something we feel is right. You can subscribe to newsletters to keep in touch with issues. stick a link in your signoff, i don't think the forum rules have a problem with that.

come on iMusty, I am answering your queston (to me) directly with the intention of trying to help you. What is your response?
yes, I know you might be scraping bucks together, but the internet is a powerful tool if you search correctly (re your topic) and there are plenty of well intentioned folk out there, we are all in different positions and contribute where we can.

anyway, good on you for giving a bleep and keep posting.

Australia-wide we have very good volunteer 4wd associations, who do great work.
Heres another: SAAFWDC

Problem is the media don't like to let facts get in the way of a good story.

Cheers

I certainly think there is room for a radical element in the 4wd movement, just like there is room for negotiation.

But I think someone needs to be drawing attention to the fact every time we get lied to, and things get closed off, shut down, graded, unmaintained etc, so we can have the presence of not letting the truth get in the way, just like the rest of the people we seem to be not battling, though they are, against us.......

Fortune favours the brave.
