So, time to comment on the SMH Drive of 3 June 05 page 15 article, can't believe am the first to post this. Owner experienced two complete shut downs driving first at over 80kmh at night, and after getting it back from the dealershiop, then gave up a second time at over 90kmh at night. Driver said was complete shut down - engine, lights, power steering, but luckliy the "brake booster" did not fail so was able to stop.

Oddly enough (not) it is now sitting in his garage and he won't drive it. He told Land Rover he'd only take it back if the manager of the dealership drove it the 130km at night back to his farm. Oddly enough the manager did not take up the offer and it was returned on a trayback.

Ranger Rover said it is fixed but the problem was the wagon's aftermarket spotlights ... (which were an o/s Land Rover product and fitted by a Land Rover dealership).

So much for new cars.
On another note a good friend of mine just had his engine relaced on his GU 3.0 Auto 18 months old 20,000 km. 6 weeks in the shop. Got it back 2 weeks ago 630kms later (new engine) lots of smoke, noise and then died. Car back in shop?????
Well thats 2 cars off my shopping list.
Thought Nissan fixed their engine problems.
