Is it the noise inside or outside u r worried about? Yes it will go better with a 2.5 exhuast & hi flow muffler, or try a super turbo muffler. They r quite good and not all that noisey. However it will sound a bit more throaty. The more it can breathe the better! Has it got a
snorkel. If not put one on it will also help the power as
well. As I said the more it can breathe ........

You will get more noise, and feels like more power... Some say it is some say its only sounds faster..
I have a Diesel GQ 4.2 (you forgot to mention what car you drive) which had the same problems as you..
But the best thing recommended from the guru on the patrol list is a 2.5" turbo muffler (offset) and a 10" resonator (hot dog will do)at
end to reduce drone at 2k revs.
YMMV

i think you posted before about the exhuast.would i be correct ......
the noise will increase a bit .......it will sound a little louder and some would say meatier/throatier.......i found it a little annoying but bearable for the increase under the right foot......so what i did was to put some
5 mm rubber matting under the vinyl thats in the troopy.....both in the front both foot wells and in the back ......at first i tried some old shag pile carpet i had lying around ......but i found the rubber a lot easier to clean .........sand/mud/water soaks right in to the carpet and stinks not to mention is a perfect medium for breeding those dreaded iron worms

Bob. I did this a few years ago to my 1HZ and it is
well worth it. If you don't fit the 2.5" system and freeflow muffler then you're not getting the full benefit from the extractors.
Mine was noisy at first but within a few thousand kilometres it had sooted up and was quite tolerable (the missus didn't even notice!) I knew it had made a difference as I could hold an extra gear on hills but the acid
test was when I put it on a dyno' and the proof was revealed. You won't notice much better aceleration but the torque increase is significant. Do a search of this
forum--this is a subject that has been raised before often.

Have the people who use these systems thought about the effect of the external noise on other people. I live near a popular rural road and many 4WD vehicles can be heard for over 2 km away. As noisy as big trucks.
These modifications are also , probably, illegal since they are not RTA approved.

Catch 22, these modifications help with fuel consumption, ie pollution, lets talk about harly davidson noise, with no gain. Col
