Does anyone know the condition of the road from Noccundra to Tibooburra? I am thinking of traveling to Tiboobura Gymkhana (in 4WD) next week and have never been this way before.

Its a gravel outback road, bit gibberish, but you should find it reasonable with good AT tyres, as per normal just take it easy. They were doing major road works in May, but cant give you a recent report.

G'day BGT,

The black top finishes a few km's past Noccundra, then it's a roughish dirt road for about 90kms (80 km/h average) until you hit the NSW border, then it's a dirt freeway with black top sections through what are washouts on the Qld side. (100km/h average)

Last time I was through there was in July, just after the rain, and they were working on the Qld side. NSW side didn't need any work 'cause it's been done properly in the first place.

Thanks,

Aaron.

We were there recently and found it fine, NSW side was worse, QLD side okay, but both in reasonable condition. We got stuck behind a road train of cattle, got talking on the UHF and he suggested a great spot for us to stop for lunch. Alongside a waterhole, it was a terrific spot. He was taking cattle from somewhere near Innaminka to a feedlot at Toowoomba.
