Warranty, if your vehicle is under warranty and anything happens your goosed, unless you remember to take the dtronic off before the RAC truck arrives. Only takes five minutes and saves a lot of hassle. Cost of course, downside with everything, they aren't cheap. I like mine, works in the Nissan treat, you do notice the difference, not earth bleep tering but you notice.

I ran a Dtronic for190,000km and found no downside what-so-ever. The increased off-idle torque was most improtant to me for towing. I can't comment directly on the Toyota application. Mine was a 2001 3.0L Nissan Patrol diesel...the model which has had so many bad reports.

I had an excellent run with mine, and the extra power right across the rev range had no adverse effects. Temperature always remained constant, independent of load. I think they've got it right with the Dtronic. I found fuel consumption remained the same.

I have said previously that the Dtronic is the single most best item I have put on my truck. I also have a 105 series 4.2 TD. Increased power accross the entire range. I tow a Kimberley Kamper and most of the time I dont even know its there. Cannot say I have noticed any change in fuel consumption. As already said, warranty could be an issue - there are no other downsides I am aware of

without sounding like an old computer geek, do yourself a favour, and do a search in the archives; this has been discussed a lot.

I've got one in my 2001 100-series T/D, and a mate has a 2005 T/D sans-D-Tronic.

He has ridden in mine and now wants to buy a D-Tronic.
Say no more.

Warranty? It's Your call; we can only give you personal perspective on this addition.

If you want to put one in, and you're worried about your warranty, don't do it.
You cannot have your cake and eat it in my opinion. If you're towing a lot, I think it's worth the risk for the added safety when you're towing something HEAVY.
Ten years agao, you would have given your eye teeth to have a STOCK factory engine to put out what the T/D puts out, so I think it's all got to be taken into each inidviduals' perspective.

kiwi2 I have one in a 2000 Gu 3L and it's not coming out anytime as the car is well and truly out of warranty. For what it's worth (pun intended) it's still the best accessory I have ever bought for the beasty.

Thanks for the comments. I tried putting Dtronic into the search but it came up blank. Must be doing something wrong - I'll try again.

Does anybody know of any problems/disasters arising from using them?

I did a search and found results.
Doing a search on this site/forum can be tricky though, so try the following:
1. make sure you firstly select BOTH in the "Switch Post View" option box
2. in the keywords section directly above the switch post view box, select topic and body checkboxes
3. enter DTronic (it is not case-sensitive)
4. do another search if you like with D-Tronic
both searches will achieve results.

I tried to attach a screen dump, but cannot do so.

Once you figure out the quirks with the search engine for the forum, you will be on your way to information nirvana - a lot of people share their lessons learned on this site; which is why I consistently use it for my own research into what people have bought, what broke, what works and what they would do differently with the benefit of hindsight.

Dtronic is the best thing that I put on my Nissn GUIV. The main advantage that I have found is the increase in power while towing, it has main towing my off road caravan much better, able to pull up hills in overdrive without any problem, As for the fuel use its like anything the more you push on the load pedal the more you use, that being said fuel consuption around the city without the caravan on has not changed much if anything it is better than it was before I installed the Dtronic

There are few diesel tuning modules about to improve the performance of late model diesel engines, including dtronic. The manufacturers COULD be achieving similar results from the factory.

They produce more power, they don't all cost the same, they don't all connect the same, they aren't all avail for same vehciles.

I have a ENG-TEK brand unit, and I'm very happy with the additional performance, without messing with wastegate boost pressures (overboost will definitely be recorded in the ECU for the dealer to find and question you about).

Suffice to say its the one accessory fitted to the car I get benifet from every time I drive.

Have a look at this site I found it the other day while browsing Http://www.steinbauer.com.au there are others around but this one seems to give better output will look into it for myself.
