What a huge month we have had in January. We have toppled all sorts of usage records with a massive increase in usage. This month we have had over an 20% overall increase in system usage and we have recorded these stats for the month of January:

User Sessions: 465,781
Hits: 25,866,239
Page Views: 3,705,340

View the graphical Site Stats report

Yes over 3.7 million pages of content rendered in one month to 465 thousand user sessions. I will be working on some more reporting for advertisers to show how the system is being used but in my initial investigation the forum has around 30% of site traffic (this has been consistant for 3 years) and remaining is spread across the site.

Thanks to all our advertisers, members and visitors for your continued usage and support of ExplorOz.com. We will publish additional usage and traffic information in the next newsletter which will be issue 100 due 9th or 10th Feb.

PS: We will be moving the site to a new server platform during the week of the 13th Feb.

Do you have any theories about why the increase has been so dramatic, David?

Wombat,

Theories - heaps however we always have a spike in Jan just after christmas and this spike sets the levels for the year. I expected to reach 400,000 sessions but going over 460 was a bit of a happy shock. Sounds like a huge year is unfolding.

We have reached out to more caravan markets via a few ads. Also we have now created the professionally produced Media kit which is being distributed aound the country so we have more advertisers looking at the system also.

BTW: If anyone wants or needs our printed 2006 Media Kit please send us an email at info@exploroz.com with your name, business name and address and we will put on in the mail for you. It is also available as PDF download on the Why Advertise page.

Hmmmmm! I have to say I had noticed that you've changed your aftershave and I was wondering whether that has had an affect?

Here's hoping the next eleven months do indeed amount to a "huge year" for you.

Indeed Bruce! Entertain the populace (pardon the pun), make them laugh and you have their attention, have created goodwill and therefore are half way to selling the product - in this case ExplorOz.

David,

Just as a matter of interest, how many Members and registered Visitors are on the "books"?

Des Lexic,

At the top of the forum index screen is a count of registered visitors 20 633 at present, on the members menu is a link to Member Stats which shows the state by state break down of members currently 1056 which is before todays order processing in which there are a few new memberships.

I am not surprised by your stats David - I just received my Advertiser Stats and was blown away by the figures also. Well done. Still think it's the best site on the web no matter what!

Thanks Ruth,

Must admit I have not yet sampled the ad stats however I expect they should have reflected the site stats. We had over 43000 Directory searches in January, these are people who are looking for suppliers of products and services every month on ExploOz.

May I put your feedback into the Advertiser Feedback system?

I know why the increase in usage.... it comes directly from one source..........the Explozoz tyre cover that adornes my Patrol here in Brisbane.

How could anyone refuse not to look at this wonderful site when the message comes from a colourful display on my Patrol!!!!

Good one Patrick - I am sure this accounts for a good percentage of it. Thanks for adorning the colours "so to speak".

David,

THERE was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
That the Explore Oz website was out there to be found,
And had joined the world wide web — it had a thousand yarns,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
All the tried and noted drivers from the stations near and far
Had mustered at the Birdsville Caravan Park,
For the bushmen love hard driving where the wild outback starts,
And the vehicles rumble at the battle with delight.........

These figures are just rewards for your persistent hard work. I for one find it hard to get away from the computer and do some actual work because of this site.

PS speaking of The Birdsville C/Park... is that the venue for another mass gathering this year ? (hope there is one planned as I would love to prepare for it)

Best Regards Trevor.

Cheers mate, while we're on the subject of nicknames. Have you got that "HELLRAISER" sticker made up for the back of the X90? or is the back window too small to fit such a big word on it? hahahaha.

Regards Trevor.

Hey Bob good to see you! I have got your addy here, been meaning to email some pics to you from the gathering, the unfortunate thing is there isn't really any of Hellraiser because most were taken before you guys arrived.

Nice to see you made if back home Trev!

Mary River Rattler.. that's my man....

Pity I have to ask him numerous times throughout the night if he would stop at the station for a break!
