I have a question about the compatability of the Namvan GPS receiver and the Oziexplorer software.
I have a HP IPAQ 5400 and Navman 3450 sleeve (with Smartst software installed on PDA that I use for city driving). I have downloaded the TRIAL versions of the OziExplorer software and OziExplorer CE and have successfully installed both on my home PC and PDA. Just out of curiosity I opened the software and demo map and then connected my Navman sleeve to see if I could pick up a signal and received a "GPS SUSPENDED" message on my PDA. Does this mean that sleeve did pick up a signal but the OziExplorer software blocks it because its only a trial version, or does the Navman sleeve not work with OziExplorer. Another theory I had was that the GPS co ordinates did not "fit in" with the demo map on the screen, therefore could not give a correct position in relation to the map.

Anyway, does anyone know if I can use the Navman sleeve after paying for the full software or will I have to buy something like a bluetooth GPS receiver?

Any info would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Darren.

P.S. Anyone else run OziExplorer and GPS on a PDA set up like this???

OK this one has coe up a few times before

The Smart Street software hogs the GPS port. You need to stop Smart Street by finding running programs and stop it. I prefer to just delete Smart street because Ozi is way better and I hate Smart St :-)

Yes I am runnin Ozi on 5450 with a eTrex

How can I connect our iPaq hx2110 to either a GarmineTrex or gps12??
We are running both Destinator 3 and OziCE successfully using a Holux 270 GPS card- however you don't get the 'compass' type indication when going to a waypoint like the Garmin (if ya know what I mean).

Soft reset the Ipaq and only start OziExplorer and it will work fine.
You can only have 1 software accessing the GPS port and any one time
be default. if you want to get around this problem you need this Software:
http://franson.com/gpsgate/ it allows you to use more than at GPS software
at the same time.

I run Ipaq 3900 with Navman GPS 3450 GPS Smart ST and Oziexplorer CE
without any probs with the above config.

I have just got the system working with a few problems. Can only run one application at a time
I use an ipaq 3870 an have my maps on SD card.
An email to Navman support had them ring me next day and they helped me configure it correctly/
That is very good service and they were courteous and helpful with a not too computer literate senior
Cheers,Mary

Bit of Da Ja Vue hey??
Yeah, I did post this to couple of other sites as well to better my chances of getting a response, wasn`t sure if the Navman sleeve would work, thought it might only work with the Navman software that came with it.
So far all responses have been helpful, thanks everyone.
Looks like I`ll be buying the OziExplorer software in the next couple of weeks.
Cheers.
