Who's watched the
Malcolm Douglas doco's the last 2 weeks.
Loads of setups, but nevertheless still entertaining with a few laughs and tips.
And the portable bed of nails!

It was the last 2 Saturday nights here in Brissie (6.30) Chan 7, but something else next weekend.
According to MD the bed of nails was to give comfort to his sore back & help him relax.

If he got rid of the half inch foam mattress he says he prefers, I doubt he would need the nail bed for a sore back

Quite unique as he has a flat bottom boat on top of the troopy most of the time but you see him fishing out of a large runabout. Supposedly in the wild on his own.
And I do enjoy the prog it's good entertainment with the bush twist.
Bet that troopy is overloaded if he really travells with all the gear he says you MUST have.
But I'm still gunna watch it when it's on agin.

Heh Dodge, I liked his demo. of the ''sand anchor'' for winching, although if he had of been in 4wd. [front wheels not spinning] he would'nt have needed it ! His adaption of the 'hangi' style of cooking was good, but he did.nt say exactly, what rocks to use, I thought they had to be volcanic,?I have stood around a fire waiting for the rocks to heat, & somebody had inadvertently put a cuppla river rocks in.Put a few aerosol cans in a fire & you get the same result!! Still a good program though.... Phil

I'll watch anything related to 4wd. Not a bad show overall but I think some of it was a worry.
He nearly came to grief with that hi-lift jack and I don't think the troopy moved a metre to the left as he claimed when it fell, I think he moved 2mts to the right! Thought they would've have done a second take on that one.
I was also waiting (and I think he wasn't sure) for the bullbar rail to give way or slip when he used it to jack off.
When he lit the fire with the batt and some fuel, I was waiting for the explosion off camera when the fumes from the fuel jerry made it to the fire.
The guy loves a fish but things were a bit tense when he was trying to tie the mudcrab, surprised he's still got all his fingers.
Have got some good tips and ideas out of the show and there wasn't the usual product placement stuff (except for the R & R beadbreaker)

yes i thought my hubby was going to jump down the tv when he said the jack moved the troopy a metre, it's more like 4 inches. did like the idea of using the cat food in the crab nets though, that's got to be better than the smell and the room taken up with bones.

He certainly need some work in the continuity dept but an amusing & informative show. I must make myself one of those beds of nails.... Also would come in handy to invert it and tow it behind you on
the beach to remove tyre tracks......Funny thing with that demo was he was trying to tell you that it needed flat ground while he is laying it out on the only lumpy ground in the shot...
