Sorry, but if you are doing any trip and don't know the approx distance you shouldn't be going.

I agree with Rambler. Whenever we plan a trip I get the maps and measure distances, etc. If I have trek notes I will still get the sheet map and mark the waypoints on it and the route.

Now that I have Oziexplore and NATMAP it is even easier.

Ozinefinder, there are two methods you can use apart from the one you are trying (ask someone else that has already done all the work).

1.Get a sheet map and a little measuring wheel (available at map shops) and calculate off the map scale.

2.Get a piece of paper and mark the distance along the track off the map and check it against the scale at the bottom or side of the map sheet.

3.Use a mapping software.

Best of luck.

What is it with the grumpy old s$its on here the guy just asked a simple question no one is putting a gun to your head and making you answer. Isnt that what this forum is all about fellow 4x4 drivers helping those just embarking on the adventures. Drop the holier than thou attitudes and lets all enjoy and learn from the advice of others.

Most of your trip apart from the bit down to Eaglevale is covered in the high country trek notes. Starts at Mansfield and goes to the turn off to Eaglevale where it goes the other way to get to Talbotville.

It's not all but it's a start.
