What a bleep er, Not a good look for a Troopy I must say!

On a serious note, Are people dumb or what?
Surely commonsense should prevail and you would stop to check the depth?

Yep your right Nudie!, 1.5 meters ain't deep,
It hasn't covered the roof rack as yet so it ain't deep.

If it was tour operator then he need more than the loss of his tour license.

When you click on the photo , the instruction at the bottom is "CLOSE WINDOW" - very appropriate .

That is a good point about checking the water height - you can't walk a croc river to check and maybe he had been through at this height before , but this time the crossing had been washed out .

I guess though with a car full of customers , you should not take chances like that .

I would hate to be sitting on Cahills Crossing in that situation . YIKES , it makes my hair stand on end just thinking about it .

Willie .

Beatit ,

Once when I was applying for a temporary gun licence for pig shooting in the Territory , the local sargeant took me into his office and showed me some photos of the torso of the poor fella who had been fishing on the crossing and left it a bit late in the tide to walk back over .

He got swept off and swam across and upstream until he was able to pull himself up on an overhanging branch . His family was watching and were yelling to him that a croc was swimming towards him .

The croc came out of the water and tore his head clean off - the torso in the photo was clean straight across the shoulders .

When I go across the crossing , I always make sure the tide is right down and even then I feel uneasy .

Willie .

Willie,

I read that story in a book, bit sad really. Apparently he was a local and knew what he was doing but there was grog involved. Hope I got the right one and if memory serves me corect the locals had pet names for the crocs but were caught by surprise when a new croc arrived that didn't know the rules about not eating the locals. There have been a few interesting croc stories at Cahill.

Nudie,

Bet they were happy to see a boat. Doubt that anyone would have been safe on the vehicle if there was a big croc about.

Kind regards

It looks like 5 persons and a lot of gear on that roof. I wonder what the load limit is of a troopie roof?

When I see pictures like that I often wonder if Mother Nature has a sense of humour.
Some people put actions like that down to complacency or carelessness, some even say stupidity.

I often wonder if it's Mother Nature have a bloody good laugh as she tops up the chlorine in the gene pool!

I have my glasses on and still can't determine if there is a coota in the drivers seat.

Also the depth sign seems to have moved between the two shots .

Therefore , definitely trick photography and an 'all chic crew' which explains it in a nutshell.

AND it would never happen to a TROOPY.

PS

Or a JEEP

Nudie

I am all about trust - just ask BONZ.

However (always one of these)

You seem to have an intimate knowledge of the situation to be so categorically positive of the 'seventh persons' position.

In view of this could you give us readers a few more etails on this event.

(1) gender of the 7th person/driver.

(2) where is the depth post in the first photo.

(3) was number seven wearing his/her glasses on approach and entrance to the crossing

(4) why was no seven still in the vehicle

(5) how did they manage to disguise a Niss an as a Troopy.

(6) Sorry about (6) just copuldn't help myself.

(7) Why did the subject vehivle come to a halt. Was it because the factory fitted snorkel leak like sieves and filled the engine with water.

(8) What was the first words spoken by the driver when it all turned to C H I T

(9) Is it a fact that the chics on top were discussing would they make it to their next 'brazillian' on time and didn't give a 'toss' about no 7.

(10) What happened to no. 7 after recovery.

(11) Was no. 7 doing a 'ships captain' i.e. going down with the ship.

(12) this will do as there are too many more to ask.

Regards

Ken Robinson

PS

(13) Ooops! forgot. Why weren't they in a JEEP
