Hi can any one help me, as part of a central Aus trip I am planing to go to Chambers pillar through Maryvale, can you get back out to the Hugh river stock route along the railway line to avoid back tracking as I want to go to Rainbow Valley.
Thanks David

You used to be able to. There may be a sign up there now discouraging you from doing just that. Someone might post updated info.

After you come down the Jump down, turn left for a short distance, then right along the fence for another short distance and then about 12km to the Railwayline. Turn right and follow through to the Hugh River and beyond.

First check out the treck notes on this site. Quote:

"After an evening camp at Rainbow Valley turn hard right as you exit the main access gate to the Conservation Reserve and follow these tracks behind Rainbow Valley. There are a maze of tracks here, but when you join up with the restored section of the Ghan railway line turn south. This will meet up with the Hugh River Stock Route. Turn left and head east until you meet up with the Old South Road. Follow the signs from here for 20km to Rodinga Ruins and then it's 13km to Maryvale Station and another 44km to Chambers Pillar".

We followed these directions from Rainbow Valley to the Maryvale (Hughes Stock Route Rd) last July. Very staright forward.
