Has anybody bought this DVD recently?.
I bought one at the recent Perth caravanning and camping show and it failed to copy completely onto my computers hard drive. (One IS allowed to make a copy onto the computer hard drive)
I get a: Data error - cyclic redundancy check
message after about 80% of the maps were copied across.

Naturally, I returned this DVD yesterday to the shop in Hay street but the exchanged one has the same problem!
Tried the copying part on another computer at work, using different copying methods but still no go.

So I'm wondering if there is a faulty batch of these DVD's out there? I can't be that unlucky to get two bad ones in a row.

I did speak to the author of the DVD's on the phone on Monday (he's out of town), he suggested to return it to the store for exchange which I did, see above.

BTW, I bougth the Raster 50K SW of WA DVD from the same author last year and it had no problems.

You could try DVD shrink 3.2 to see if its copy protected. Or Isobuster to extract to hard drive.

thanks but since I do not own a DVD burner the copying protection is no issue. I'll investigate what that Isobuster you mention is all about.

The DVD drive may not like the DVD media - have you tried a different PC?

Yes, as mentioned in the original post. We even tried various ways of copying files across. If the DVD drive does not like the media then it surely would not happily copy 80% of it? Its a DVD problem IMO.

I just managed to speak to the author and he promised to send me a tested DVD next week when he's back in town.
So, I'm happy now. Hopefully nobody else had experienced this problem.

Hello Klaus - As discussed will be sending a working copy to you as soon as I get back into town - I try and check a few of the DVD's going out but its a bit hard to find all faults - I thinkfrom now on I will do a check directly after producing each DVD to ensure it is OK. If anyone else has a dodgy Kimberley DVD please get back to me and I will send replacement
Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Hi V8 Troopie, I bought the DVD when it was first released & had no problem copying it into my OziExplorer setup. Sounds like a bad batch as you said. Cheers.
