Morn'n All, i suppose with all the old bloke's gone off tripping through out this big wide open country, all us youg'ns have to hold up the Fort(forum).I am very envious of them though (sigh ) one day though will not come soon enough. I will have to be content with going down to Ormeau with Trevor R & do a bit of off road'n stuff. So not all is lost. Have a good day all. Cheer's Bob.

G'Day Bob,
Well we're not old folks yet, but we're only 2 more days in this current contract and the we're having 2 months off in the Red Centre.

We decided not to wait till we were old before we started travelling....the kids are all old enough to have left home now and we rented out the house to look after the mortgage and we travel in between work...we work around 35 weeks of the year and the other 3 or 4 months, we just camp by waterholes in the red stuff...

Enjoy your day where ever you are at the time.

Cheers
Rick & Julie

Knowledge of Geritol (and of the programs sponsored to promote it) would be an admission of being a certain age, yes?

If those who have gone are older, they must have been around when Moses was a boy. ;-)

Alright you two, that's enough !!! LOLOLOL

I thought you were about to take off again Footy, ya lucky bugga. Where are you off to again? Looks like I've wiped out those particular grey cells :)

Ev700, I think some of 'em were around when Moses' father was just a glint in his old man's eye hahahahaha As for Geritol, ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies :))

Luck has got nothing to do with it, its all a matter of $$$ and time :)) Off to same place as last time if the rains let me through this year. Not going till end of June but time is speeding by because I have to replace clutch and radiator etc before going (nothing wrong with them but its a precaution).

Whats this Geritol stuff ? Will it give me better economy like a hi groan or a glitch ?

Cheers

That's right, the scales are slowly falling from my eyes. Now you've looked at solutions for some of those problems from last time I hope. Don't want you injuring yourself. Travelling is for enjoyment not some masochistic impulse.

New clutch and radiator are a good idea considering where you're going. Have you got a solution for the spare tyre conundrum? We're not budding Rambos anymore :)))

Hmmm, I think Geritol is made by the same mob as higroan and glitch only without the quality assurance accreditation LOL

Every trip is a voyage of discovery...when you're by yourself it becomes a voyage of self discovery.
If I waited around to find solutions to all my problems and to amass everything that I should take, I'd be 90 and pulling a service station behind me :))
Suitable modifications to travelling schedule (eg camp instead of going the extra 250K in the dark), one piece wheels (less tyre trouble I hope), and a pair of bars to put another tyre carcass on...maybe.
Satphone is well on the cards, along with the HF and epirb in the glovebox etc. Most importantly, I'm taking some books to read when I get stuck :))
The best accessory I ever bought is a comfortable seat to sit down occasionally while setting up camp. I may be a bit infirm but am absolutely in awe of people like Willem with his new knees !

Wife rekkons that so far I'm healthier but we all know that can change in the blink of an eye.

Hoping to hook up with Willem for a campfire on his second trip. Now that should be interesting ! Dunno what he'll make of me. He'll probably ask what a bloke like me is doing in a place like this LOL

hahaha you'll be fine Footy. I know you'll enjoy yourself whatever the adventures. One caution with Willem though. Be careful of any alcoholic beverages he may offer. The forum archives are littered with 'horror' stories on that subject LOL

If you can resist ending up comatose I think you'll both get on fine.

hahahaha I can just imagine Willie and Willem around the campfire. That should be an interesting conversation. Then throw Wim into the mix. They'll be happy little campers alright. Good luck to them, I'm sure they'll have a great time with some interesting tales to tell when they return.

This Geriatric Gypsie is staying put this year. Last 2 years I had the pleasure of missing the bracing Canbera winters with trips to our northern climes.
I will go to Melbourne in August for a week or so, and have done a few short trips earlier this year... But damn I will not enjoy this winter here sitting in front of the gas log fire, to scared to go outside for fear one of my ears will freeze & fall off. Wonder if I put one of those Fitchy things on the gas fire would it get hotter?????

From Canberra to Melbourne in August ? Is the weather any different ? Crikey you'll need longer in the warm climes next time, your joints will be frozen up ! :))
