Hi all
Planning on a trip this July school holidays from Perth to Karijini and back through Mt Augustus, Murchison Settlement and intend to stay two or more nights around Paynes Find. Does anyone have any up to date information regarding Ninghan Station
Q1: does it still carter for campers?
Q2: has anyone a contact number/email?
Q3: is the emu farm at Mt Gibson still operating and is it worth the visit (have 3 kids)?
and last Q if Ninghan is not availiable are there other station/farm stays in the area worth staying at.

Steve

Yep old Don.

Try and get a detailed map of the place makes getting around and exploring easer, If ya keep you eye out may even come across some of that valuable yellow rock.

I had one, but have misplaced it unfortunately, I could have photocopied it and cent you a copy, Will rummage throe the cupboards sometime soon and if I find it will let you know, One of my mates might have it lying around his place somwhere.

We where up they’re over Easter and I was pulling my hair out trying to remember where I put the stuffing thing before we left, Ended up borrowing Don’s map of the place, the Gt northern runs throe the middle of the station, I have only ever been on the In-land side (Mt Singleton, Lake Moore.)

Perhaps try DOLA or Department of Environment.

So if anyone spotted a Once Green Explorer that was Covered in Red Mud driving around Perth Easter Tuesday, that was Me, I have since Washed it 3 times and the friggen thing’s still producing red dirt Yay.

The Chart and Map Shop in Collie St Freo should be able to sell you a 1:50,000 map of the area if that's what you're after. DLI in Midland are the 'source' if that's closer. There's also a joint in Hay St Perth next to 78's that sells them too.

Come to think of it, Paynes Find Roadhouse had some Auslig stuff too. Very progressive of them I thought.

AFAIK there is no Govt produced 50,000 scale map of that area - you will have to get 100,000 scale map (Map Sheet 2339 has Ninghan on it..I think). I would ring the Chart and Map Shop (Freo) or Map World (Perth City) before heading in as they may not have all the 100K in stock - DLI in Midland should have them all (I guess).

Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Just did most of that trip a few week ago but didn't stop at Ninghan (drove past it though). Had a ball. Don't forget to ask old Vinegar Tits at Murchison Settlement if she's heard any good jokes lately;-) Bundle of laughs she is.

Camped on the Murchison River east of the bridge. OK spot but the river level was up so can't say what it will be like in July. Good swimming at Bilung Pool. Cattle pool was good too and is just near Mt Augustus. Fuel $1.85 per litre. Burringurrah a bit cheaper.

Have fun.

Fairly cut up and very soggy in parts. The grader I was following on one section just sank. Not much we could do but crack a beer and wait. The Gascoyne River was flowing fast but only a foot or so deep. I'd say you'd be fine by now.

I towed a 8x4 tandem trailer. Except for one section where it tried to overtake me, there were no worries at all.

We stayed at Nallan Station once - just North of Cue. Quite quaint.
