Maybe I've had a bad day. No, that's not it. Maybe I love this site. Yes, that's it. I love being able to help some-one else by giving them a possible solution to their question even though I'll probably never see them or get to know them except via this. I often go back one or two pages to re-vist threads that I've replied to or have been interested in only to discover that there is no follow up from the "thread starter". We all like to help out a fellow traveller and sometimes there is numerous solutions to one particular problem. It would be great if the request for info always finished up with a post of "thanks mate, that fixed it" or " I learned something today". We all have our areas of expertise and some of us have had years of experience to be able to give this info out to you for nothing.
When there is multiple solutions given (often for a vague question, through no fault of the writer, just not knowing what info to supply for a good answer), it would be nice if that writer would acknowledge if we helped. None of us charge $60/hour or so for our time here, so this IS your free lunch. Rus.

Rus.

Spot on.

I have often wondered what was the best answer to some of the questions.

I think it would be worth while to go back through the archives at some of the questions that we have asked and post what worked.

Hi Rus,

I have posted a number of times and have for most of them received constructive and helpful responses. I have also responded to others queries and hopefully added value.

I started out thinking I wanted to respond personally to all who had helped me.

When I "help" (hopefully) someone else I don't care if they don't respond. In this day and age threads quickly move down the page and who knows how often each person visits.

I guess I also don't want to unneccessarily clog up the servers etc. and think that if we all give and get it works itself out.

I do still try to thank respondents from time to time but my initial threads tend to "thank respondents in advance". Maybe you think this is lip service but I suggest this is more efficient.

For all who have responded to my questions......Thanks.

Trevor

Trev. Easter Friday did you pass 4 vehicles on the Border Track just north of Red Bluff around lunch time? If so, one was me. Rus.

my rig photo was actually taken on the Border Track just after exiting the big muddy section at the bottom end ( South of Red Bluff). The mud dried on my wheels really bad and threw the balance out something unbelievable when we got back onto normal roads. I couldn't work out why I had these really bad vibrations at speed. It was like having dried mud wheel weights on the inside of my rims!

Must get back there!

I always try to respond to all who answered or contributed to my questions. If people can take the time to answer, its not hard for me to thank them. Totally agree

I totally agree, there's such a thing *shock, horror* as good manners.
So if you've replied to any of my questions and feel left out, my apologies and thank you.
I always try and thank people, or at least reply in some way but sometimes people are so generous that it's difficult to keep track.
There are so many people on this forum with different 4wd experiences, knowledge and just plain personality (!) that it's quite unique in many ways.
Lets hope that people are never discouraged from contributing by the mindless selfishness of those who feel that they don't need to say "thanks."
Thankfully they are in the minority.
