Hay gang i want to know if anybody out there has put bigger tyres on a standard height 97 pajero. If so did they rub any where and what size were they. I want to go to 275 x 75 or 285s depending on tyre brand. Either bf goodrich Muddies or goodyear ATRs. Also is it easy to fit 1 or 2in body lift and will this solve the problem. Thanks Heaps

You wont go anywhere near fitting BFG MT 285's on a stocky Paj. Bloke over road tried, and was real plst when they didnt fit up (Tire shop said they wouldnt - he knew better, they wouldnt refund)..

YMMV.

What car do you have? GLX or GLS?
They came with different size tyres.
Did you get the 97 with 16" rims, which were starting to come in that year to replace the previous 15" rims?

Makes a difference since legally you should only go up 15mm in diameter.
Others will argue this one. I play conservative being an old bloke :-).

I am running 32"/808mm dia 235/85/16 OK on stock front and 2" raised rear with king springs - 96 GLX pajero.

Reckon 33" would fit OK in regard to diameter looking at my tyres.
Diameter wise, front guards and the rear guard at the rear door catches first.

However, not sure how the width would go with rubbing the front torsion bars on full lock. You could always reset the steering stops a little.

Big question is what size rim and offset are you thinking off?
Is it a GLX like mine or the GLS? The GLX just covers my 235s.
The wider plastic flares in the GLS would cover 265/275.
I notice that the pajero 7x16 rims have the extra width (1") on the outside of the rim, so my standard 6x16 with 10P offset would result in a 20P offset 7x16 rim.
285s may mean going to an 8" rim.

I fitted 266/85/16 BFG Mud Terrains with no clearance problems at all on my 96 Pajero GLX (I think it was a GLX - got rid of it 6 years ago). The wheels were ROH steels and they later fitted the Patrol with no problems at all (same wheel).
